Zoom Meetings - Links and Instructions

Sugarhill meetings have retuned to IN-PERSON-ONLY

As of October 2022 the board is reviewing an in-person with ZOOM meeting scenario. This is a significantly technical issue because we have to hold our meetings in someone else's meeting room, but we are trying our best to develop this possibility.

Zoom is an online meeting software that is used extensively throughout the world and is compatible with most, if not all, systems. Zoom can be used on computers, smart phones, tablets, and laptops. Any of these Items will need camera and audio ability.

Here is information about how to attend our zoom meetings:
  • If you want information about Zoom go to the ZOOM help center. Read the information on the getting started page.
  • Select the link to our Zoom meeting below. Zoom automatically checks if you have the software and if you don't it will ask you to download it. It is a safe software to download.

If the link doesn't go anywhere,
try again closer to the meeting,

It is very important that you link to the meeting early. If you have never used Zoom you need to have time to download the software. Also, we "check people in" from the waiting room (necessary because of possible internet crashers and we only allow owners) This is now a ZOOM requirement.
Our meetings are conducted using Florida statutes that allow 3 minute commentary from non-board members before we vote on an item. When we get to a voting-point in a Zoom meeting and it is time for members to talk, we will ask if there is any comments before the vote. Once we release the raised hand you can talk.
Once the meeting is concluded and we have an "adjourned" vote the meeting moves into a town hall style that we call "Open floor" where any members can talk.
Zoom allows the meeting to be recorded. Sugarhill allows meetings to be recorded as well. The Zoom meeting recordings are stored on a secure hard drive in the association office. Only members of the Association can request a copy.

Suggestions for a Better Presentation

  • Don't have bright lights or bright windows behind you. They tend to overwhelm the image if they are seen by the camera. If the light source is in front of you, that is ok.
  • If your room is being lit by window light and the meeting may extend into night be sure to have a room light on or you may just fade away into darkness at certain times of year.
  • Attempt to position the camera inline with your eyes. Many people may use a laptop on a table where they are looking down at the camera. Not so nice lookin up at someone's nose from below.
  • Background noises can ruin a meeting. Best to find a place where you can block out most extraneous noise and distractions.
  • Remember people are looking at you and your surroundings. If you are downing a big old cheese burger and washing it down with a beer, maybe the meeting isn't the best place for that . Anyway it will make everyone hungry.

Who Want's to Catch Flies?

So this is a very old expression. Dates back to the 1500s. It's literal meaning refers to how flies will get stuck in honey and stay away from you (a good thing).

The human relationship meaning refers to how you treat people. Treat them with sweetness (kindness, compassion, consideration) and you don't have as many problems (flies bothering you). Treat them nasty (vinegar) and your problems will never go away.

We believe in this motto and try to live by it.
